AI Overviews: 49% load after the page, a blind spot for citation tracking

Monitorank analyzed 2 million French search results pages from 9 to 14 September 2026 and found that 50.8% of searches show an AI Overview, with 48.6% of those loaded after the initial page, so the first HTML only contains an empty block. The share rises on long-tail queries, reaching about 58% below 1,000 annual searches, and those queries make up about 88% of the sample. Marketers who track AI Overview citations should check that their tools run the page and repeat the secondary request, or they will not know which sites are cited.

OpenAI tests a ChatGPT ad format where clicking the ad opens a chat with the brand's AI agent

OpenAI is testing an AI-native ad format in ChatGPT in which clicking a call to action opens a chat with the advertiser's own AI agent instead of sending the user to the brand's website, Digiday reports. Wayfair has confirmed it is taking part in the sponsored-agent test, and OpenAI chief financial officer Sarah Friar told a Goldman Sachs conference that the text ads now shown beneath answers in the free and Go plans are only a basic starting point. Marketers buying ChatGPT ads should plan for a conversation inside the ad and be ready to supply a brand agent that answers product questions, rather than treating a website landing page as the destination.

Helping personal agents shop more intelligently and reliably with Link

Stripe says it is making three changes to Link to help personal agents move through checkout and to build consumer trust in the purchases agents make. The post says agent builders asked for help with both as agents take on more buying. Marketers should expect Link to be a supported path for agent-initiated purchases and test their checkout with agent buyers, not only human ones.

OpenAI launches Dots, autonomous AI agents that work around the clock

OpenAI announced Dots on 29 September 2026, agents powered by GPT-6 Astra with a cloud computer and browser that work continuously, connect to more than 4,000 applications through OpenAI's plugin ecosystem and stay reachable in ChatGPT, by SMS, on Slack, on Teams or by voice call. The first Dot is included at no extra cost in Pro and Business Premium plans in eligible markets, while Enterprise, Edu and Healthcare customers get beta access if an administrator turns it on. Marketers who want agents to find and use their product should watch how services get listed in this plugin ecosystem, because that is how the first Dots pick their tools.

OpenAI turns ChatGPT into a work platform: Dots and GPT-6.1 Sol arrive

At DevDay 2026 OpenAI presented Dots, always-on agents built on GPT-6 Astra, strengthened Codex, opened new collaborative spaces in ChatGPT and added enterprise features including privacy controls, a marketplace and AWS integrations. The company's stated aim is to turn the assistant into an operating layer for work, software and business processes. For marketers the practical question is whether the new marketplace and agent connections become another place where products must be listed to be found by AI assistants.

Amazon Blocked Meta’s Muse, And Robots.txt Had Nothing To Say

The column looks at Amazon's block on Meta's Muse agent and says robots.txt played no part: any site can write the block-page sentence Amazon used into its own terms, and telling an agent apart from a shopper is the hard part. It is analysis of an event already reported.

Doubao adds travel services: book flights and train tickets, hail rides and navigate in one sentence

Ahead of China's National Day holiday, Doubao added flight and train booking, ride hailing and navigation to its assistant, on top of hotel and restaurant booking, so users can describe a trip in natural language and have the assistant call the service. The feature works with partners including 航班管家, 高铁管家, 曹操出行 and 百度地图 for supply, pricing and navigation. Travel and local marketers should expect more booking requests to arrive through assistant conversations and check that their inventory and prices reach the partners Doubao calls.
