This page lists what Agent Beat records when you use agent-beat.com and who handles it.

Visits

Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics 4 count page views on the public site. The site is served through Cloudflare. Each day we save Cloudflare's request counts for the previous day, grouped by user agent, page path, country and status code. Those counts hold no IP addresses. Each group is labeled human, good bot or junk bot.

Ask

When you send Ask a question, we save the question (up to 500 characters), the answer, the stories it drew on, the model that wrote it, and your browser's user agent. We label each request human, good bot or junk bot. We do not save your IP address with the question.

To limit abuse, we turn your IP address into a one-way hash with a secret key and count your questions against that hash. The limits are 10 questions an hour and 30 a day for each visitor, and 300 a day across the whole site. The hashes are deleted after 2 days. The IP address itself never reaches our database.

Ask checks each submission with Cloudflare Turnstile in invisible mode, which runs a bot check in your browser. Cloudflare collects data from your browser for that check, and we send Cloudflare your IP address when we verify the result. Cloudflare's handling of that data is covered by the Turnstile Privacy Addendum and Cloudflare's privacy policy.

To answer, your question goes through Vercel AI Gateway to an embedding model and an answer model. The answer call is limited to providers with zero data retention.

Search

When you search the archive, we save the query (up to 200 characters), the number of results, the results page, the language, the time, your browser's user agent and the human, good bot or junk bot label. We do not save an IP address, user ID or session ID with it.

Story clicks

Story links on the site, in the newsletter and in the RSS feed pass through agent-beat.com before they send you to the publisher. We save which story was clicked, whether the click came from the site, the email or the feed, the time, your browser's user agent, the device type and the page you came from (scheme, host and path only). We save no IP address, no subscriber ID and no cookie with a click. Click records are deleted after 400 days.

If you sign up, we store your email address and when you confirmed or unsubscribed. A new address stays unconfirmed until you click the link in the confirmation email. Emails are sent through Resend, and each issue includes an unsubscribe link.

Editor pages

The review pages are for the site's editor and need a login. They are not part of the public site.

Who handles the data

Supabase stores the records described above. Vercel hosts the site, runs Vercel Analytics and provides AI Gateway. Cloudflare serves the site and runs the Ask bot check. Google runs Google Analytics 4. Resend sends the newsletter.
