Welcome to Agent Beat for Thursday, September 24, 2026. This is your daily briefing on how AI finds brands and how agents choose what to buy. Here is what happened. We start where product research happens in video.
YouTube's Ask YouTube AI feature can now help viewers compare products while they shop, according to TechCrunch. The tool answers shopping questions inside YouTube, where product videos already inform purchase research. For marketers selling physical products, YouTube's AI answers are a shopping surface. Keep product feeds, descriptions and video details consistent across it.
Amazon is opening a new path into conversational ads. Since September 10, advertisers buying through Amazon Ads, including Amazon DSP, can buy ads inside the ChatGPT app. The pilot is limited to some US advertisers, and Delta Vacations is among the first brands named. Chris Conetta, Amazon DSP's director of omnichannel supply, said conversational advertising is the fastest-growing engagement opportunity. Amazon says its first-party shopping and browsing data plus low programmatic fees let advertisers reach the right people more cheaply than rival platforms. If you run campaigns aimed at ChatGPT users, expect ChatGPT inventory to be buyable through Amazon DSP. If you already use Amazon Ads, plan a US pilot.
Notebooks created in Gemini Notebook are indexed by Google, according to SEO Südwest, and can be used for parasite SEO. That means a brand or affiliate can publish on a Google-owned surface and compete for search visibility. For marketers chasing AI citations, test whether these indexed notebooks also surface in AI Overviews or AI Mode.
The agent race is running into retailer walls. Meta's personal agent Muse needs Walmart to outlast Amazon's block, and Expedia is trying to keep its role as a middle layer in agent-driven travel. The column also asks where Google's shopping agent is. For marketers selling through agents, expect more retailer-specific blocks. Watch which marketplaces and travel platforms stay open to agent traffic.
In search, Google is showing external links in far more AI Overviews than before. Search Engine Roundtable reports new data: the share of AI Overviews with external links rose from close to zero to more than 25 percent. That gives cited sites a clickable path out of the AI answer box. Check how often your pages appear as sources in AI Overviews. Treat those links as a separate goal from ranking in the standard results.
ChatGPT Ads is expanding to Southeast Asia and Taiwan. OpenAI says the format is now open to eligible businesses in those markets, part of an expansion that takes it past 60 countries. The post gives no pricing, formats or reach for the new markets. If you sell into either market, you can now plan ChatGPT placements. Check the country list before assuming the earlier limits still apply.
Alibaba's Accio is building for agent-to-agent trade. Accio, a global ecommerce AI workbench for small and medium businesses, launched a dedicated agent for the fifth Global Digital Trade Expo. The agent lets users plan routes, match exhibitors and find factories by chat. The company says Accio has connected Amazon, eBay, Shopify, Temu and TikTok Shop after linking Chinese platforms. Its president describes the future of business-to-business trade as agent-to-agent trade. For business-to-business marketers, prepare product and supplier data for buyer agents that compare and transact on their own, not only for human buyers.
YouTube is adding shopping features to Ask YouTube, its AI search feature. Search Engine Journal reports the additions include organizing product review videos into comparison tables and answering questions on watch pages. That puts product questions inside a video answer surface. If your products appear in YouTube reviews, make sure titles, descriptions and captions carry the product details an AI answer needs to place them in a comparison table.
Payment infrastructure for agents is taking shape in China. At Alibaba Cloud's 2026 Yunqi Conference, payment company Xingxifu and Huilaidian showed an Agent Payment service. It connects merchants, acquirers and card networks for agent-initiated transactions. The companies also showed a merchant AI agent called Luban. The company says Luban serves hundreds of thousands of merchants and handles more than 35 billion token calls a day. If you plan for checkout run by AI agents, watch whether this kind of payment hub becomes a required integration for merchants that want AI agents to complete purchases.
Baidu is now measuring AI citations. Search Engine Journal reports that Baidu's new AI CTR metric divides clicks by citations rather than impressions. Its AI Traffic Analysis report carries more than that single number. The metric gives a public read on how often an AI answer cites a page against the clicks that page receives. Do not compare it with impressions-based CTR from other tools. Watch whether other engines publish a similar citation-based measure.
