WordPress released a canonical MCP Adapter plugin that connects AI systems to WordPress sites and keeps working across MCP versions. MCP is the protocol AI assistants and agents use to reach outside data. Sites on WordPress can now expose their content to those agents through a maintained plugin rather than a custom build.
Google Merchant Center is rolling out a UCP integration hub in the United States. Merchants can onboard to the UCP program, the protocol for agent-driven checkout, from their Merchant Center account. Sellers who want their catalogs bought by shopping agents should start that onboarding in Merchant Center instead of waiting for a separate integration.
Revolut and Visa say they carried out the first payment in France triggered by an AI agent. Journal du Net argues the agent chooses on specification, price and availability rather than brand recognition, so products it cannot compare on those terms drop out of the shortlist. Marketers should make sure price, stock and product data are readable by agents, because a familiar brand name alone will not keep a product in the running.
OpenAI says it is introducing a new visual ad format in ChatGPT, separate from the content the model generates, and says the ads do not influence its answers. The same post expands measurement tools, attribution partnerships and brand suitability controls for advertisers. Marketers buying ChatGPT ads should plan image creative and third-party verification, and expect more ad inventory and measurement options to appear.
DemandSphere data published by Semrush shows AI Overviews appearing for more than 80% of the branded queries it tracks, up from 26% on Sept. 1. Google has not explained the change. Brands should assume their own name searches now return an AI Overview and check what those answers say about them.
YouTube announced new discovery, live-streaming and analytics features at its Made On YouTube event on September 23, including agentic tools built on custom Gemini models, Custom Feeds that let users prompt an AI to shape their home feed, and an expanded Ask YouTube that will show shopping links in search results. The company is competing with TikTok, Twitch and Instagram for creator time and budgets. Marketers should track Ask YouTube shopping links and AI-customized feeds as new product discovery surfaces, and check whether YouTube's role in AI answers changes.
At Advertisers Week 2026 in New York, TikTok announced a TikTok Ad Network that extends campaigns to hundreds of thousands of third-party apps, plus a conversational shopping assistant and checkout inside the For You feed. The article also describes WebMCP support that lets browser agents complete purchases after a user gives permission. Marketers selling or advertising on TikTok should check whether their product feeds and checkout can use the in-feed purchase path, and plan for campaigns that can now run outside the app.
Revelyst, which operates more than a dozen outdoor recreation brands, says AI-driven product discovery rose in 2026 and it is studying what consumers ask AI tools about its products. Global vice president of digital and ecommerce Tari Huddleston said consumers use tools including ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity to learn about product features and specifications outside Revelyst's own sites. Marketers should expect more product research to happen inside AI chats and should monitor the questions those tools answer about their products.
SOCi's 2026 Local Discovery Index, a survey of more than 1,000 US consumers, reports that the share who used an AI tool to find a local business in the past 30 days rose from 9% in 2025 to 52% in 2026. The study says consumers now loop between channels, checking AI answers against search and social before choosing. Marketers running local or multi-location campaigns should treat AI answers as a discovery channel next to search and social, and keep business details identical everywhere.
